Minimalism is for minimalists

When I talk about this topic, I tend to say “Minimalism is for minimalists.”

By that I mean that when something is truly minimalist, not everyone will appreciate it. Actually only a selection of people will be able to: fellow minimalists.

That’s because functionality and usability are, according to minimalists, not the most essential qualities of a work – and are therefore easily sacrificed. The appeal of minimalism comes from other qualities, such as incredible focus, bare nakedness, and visual comfort.

You could say that minimalist items are in many respects more meant for the brain than for the hand.
